Most Recent Board Games Announcements You Should Know About.

As you wait for me to finish complying my list on the latest Kickstarter Tabletop Roundup for April Vol 2, I saw it fit to drop this roundup of some of the recently announced and released tabletop games, that you should be knowing about.

Well, the number of new games keeping in exploding as the year continue to unfold its surprises to the gaming industry. And all I can do is to just help you keep up the pace with every new updates that hit headlines as far as gaming in concerned.

So, here is my list of the recently announced tabletop games.

1. Rayguns and Rocketships


Designed by popular video game designer and author Scott Rogers and Published by IDW Games, Rayguns & Rocketships is an action strategy board game (for 2 – 4 players) inspired by the sci-fi classics of the pulp era.

The game comes Featuring an inventive dual-scale system, players in Rayguns & Rocketships take command of their bulky-but-powerful Rocketship, as well as their agile crew of Planeteers!

Players are needed to make wise decisions as they think strategically and plan ahead as their Rocketship’s movements must be pre-programmed.

According to boardgamegeek:

“Rayguns and Rocketships is an action strategy game inspired by the sci-fi classics of the pulp era. The game features fast-paced strategy, pulse-pounding action and over 32 original miniatures!

Players starts by selecting a Planeteer faction consisting of a rocketship miniature, a rocketship interior map, a crew of six Planeteers miniatures, a captain miniature, a two-sided captain card and a deck of maneuver cards unique to each Planeteer faction. Player place their crew on their rocketship map – in the cockpit, manning the control systems or manning a raygun – each gives advantages in flight and combat.”

2. Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective


In Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective, players are presented with a series of problems that they need to solve.

So, the game’s rules dictates that they need to come up with the right strategy to find proper solutions like; tracing every bit of evidence through the byways and mansions of nineteenth century London.

You’ll have to search the newspapers for clues, interview suspects, and put together the facts to reach a solution.

According to the developers:

“Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective is a cooperative game of observation, logic, and the science of deduction for one to eight players. You and your fellow players take on the roles of members of the Baker Street Irregulars, Holmes’s cadre of young agents, whom he employs to gather information in his cases. Armed with the facts of the case, the London Directory, a map of Victorian London, the daily issue of The Times, and your own wits, you must unravel ten devilishly complex cases, each with a unique casebook. If your mind is sharp and your logic unflawed, you may even outshine the great detective himself!”

3. Pearl Lands Sci-Fi Board Game


Pearl Lands is one of the new released board game by indie gaming company Roli Games.

Its resource management strategy game with a sci-fi theme where 2 to 5 players compete to build three main resource buildings before each other.

It’s a fast paced game that gets more and more intense with each passing turn. It’s also a good board game for your social game night, making it ideal for both board game beginner and enthusiast gamers who are interested in a fun, and competitive and easy-to-learn board game experience

According to the developers:

“Pearl Lands game is an intense competition to dominate the Pearl Lands galaxy! Accumulate your resources to build attack and trade ships, and purchase action cards. Steal resources from opponents to weaken them with merciless attacks. And always keep up your defenses, because you can never know who has eyes on your planet’s riches. Use trade to exchange resources and get closer to galactic conquest. But remember: Pearl Lands is full of surprises and betrayals!”

4. Super Mario Level Up!


Board game maker USAopoly has revealed a Super Mario board game, called Super Mario Level Up!, which is officially licensed by Nintendo. The board game features an interesting 3D board layout, where players physically “level up” on the board itself.

Players compete to reach the castle at the top of the board, by collecting coins and completing challenges. The board game features many famous Nintendo characters, including Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Peach, Bowser, Wario and others.

According to boardgamegeek:

“In Super Mario Level Up! Join Mario and his pals as you advance them up the Mushroom Kingdom while challenging other players to gather the most coins and reach the castle at the top.

Each player starts with a unique lineup of characters that they are trying to score the most points with. Players take turns moving any character up the board until a character gets to the top.”

5. Unbreakable Bonds


The industry has had a lot of competitive board games out there. This has seen every player constantly looking for titles that introduces different genres and classes of challenges.

However, sometimes we all need something different from competing with opponents and just get a title that will make us team up with friends as we explore different levels of gaming experiences.

This is where cooperative and solo games come in, and Unbreakable Bonds is here to give us new experiences with cooperative and solo games, being a new Runebound expansion.

According to the developers:

“Unbreakable Bonds is a new expansion for Runebound, and gives you the option to dramatically reshape the nature of the game. Rather than competing against up to three opponents, Unbreakable Bonds invites you to journey through the fantasy realm of Terrinoth as part of a group, or even to strike out on your own in a solo game! With a robust combat system to control the monsters, two new heroes, five cooperative / solo scenarios, and a wealth of new asset and skill cards, Unbreakable Bonds pushes the borders of Terrinoth further than ever and leads you into new adventures with every game.”

6. Ticket to Ride: Germany


This is another standalone game in the Ticket to Ride series and players will be engaging in creating routes that connect cities in a quest to build their transport business.

Players collect and use cards to create routes on the game board between two cities. You’ll only score points both for claiming routes and for completing tickets, with incomplete tickets counting against a player’s score.

According to the Days of Wonder:

“Using the route network previously seen in the Märklin Edition, Ticket to Ride: Germany introduces a new and exclusive passengers rule. Additionally, the game includes short and long Destination Tickets to choose from, making Ticket to Ride: Germany a simple and elegant variant to the original game, with new challenges which will please newcomers and veterans alike.”


Sure, the classic board games like Monopoly, Risk, and Battleship are still great fun.

But the number of new games has exploded in the last several years as designers dream up space adventures, deck-building sagas, and zombie survival games.
